Bring your own key
Using your own upstream subscription over our infrastructure.
If you already hold a direct subscription with a provider, you can use it over our infrastructure: routing, retries and usage reporting from us, tokens from your own account.
How
- Add your upstream key in your profile. It is stored encrypted and is never readable again.
- Link one of your API keys to it.
- Requests on that key then run on your own credentials.
What changes
| Topic | With BYOK |
|---|---|
| Tokens | Come off your own provider account. |
| Wallet | Not charged for tokens; only the platform fee, if one is configured. |
| Rate limits | Your provider's own limits apply. |
| Usage reporting | Recorded exactly like everything else. |
If your upstream key is invalid or out of quota, those requests fail — we do not quietly spend from our own pool on your behalf, because that is a financial decision you did not make.
